Fleck,
Mather & Strutz, Ltd. has been engaged in the practice of law in Bismarck, North
Dakota, since its founding in 1945 by Alvin C. Strutz, later a Chief Justice of the North
Dakota Supreme Court, and Clifford Jansonius, who subsequently served as a North Dakota
District Judge. In 1948, Ernest R. Fleck joined Mr. Strutz and Mr. Jansonius in the
practice of law. Russell R. Mather joined the firm in 1955 and retired in 1996. In 1959,
William A. Strutz joined the firm and retired in 2004. These founders established the
goals and values which continue to guide the practice. The Firm’s longevity is also
the result of selecting and retaining lawyers and support staff with high scholastic and
professional qualifications and a commitment to uncompromising ethical standards.
Fleck, Mather & Strutz offers a wide variety of
legal services with its lawyers working in specific areas of law. Concentrating on their
respective specialties allows the lawyers to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to
meet the changing needs of their clients. The Firm’s lawyers are licensed to appear
in a number of state and federal courts in North Dakota, Montana, Minnesota, Iowa, Wyoming
as well as the United States Supreme Court.

The Firm’s major practice groups are Trial

groups include insurance defense, medical malpractice defense, construction, products
liability, personal injury, environmental, commercial transactions, banking and finance,
healthcare, employment and labor, real estate, probate, wills, administrative, oil and
gas, coal, natural resources, public utilities, telecommunications, water law, and
litigation of all types in various state and federal courts.
The Firm is one of the founding members of the State
Capital Global Law Firm Group which is an association of major law firms in each state
